Step 1:  Top Stair to Bottom Landing

Please measure from the edge of the top stair to bottom landing. This measurement determines the length of your stair lift's rail, so please measure twice. When measuring make sure the tape measure touches the edge of each stair and that it does not sag in between stairs.

Step 2: Top Stair to Bottom Step

This is similar to Step 1, but instead of measuring down to the bottom landing measure to the edge of the bottom step. Again, please make sure the tape measure touches the edge of each stair and that it does not sag in between stairs.

Step 3: Step Width

Please measure the usable width of one stair tread. If, for example, the stair treads extend beyond a set of rails then don't include that extra width in the measurement.

Step 4: Bottom Clearing Distance

This tells us how much available space you have on the bottom landing. Please measure from the end of the bottom stair to the nearest wall or other obstacle.

Step 7: Step to Step Distance

Please measure from the edge of one step to the edge of the next step. This measurement helps to confirm the other measurements ensuring the stair lift rail will fit your staircase precisely.
